Italya Potts

It's rare to find someone born with the natural ability to captivate an audience. Italya Potts has displayed her ability to do so since child hood. Born in our nation's capital of Washington, D.C., it was obvious since the age of 2 that Italya possessed a true God-given talent. Italya is not only a singer but a songwriter as well. She writes all of her songs and is hands on with the composition of her music. 

Upon hearing her voice, it is easy to hear some of her musical infuences such as Whitney Houston, Kim Burrell, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans,  The Clark Sisters, The Pace Sisters and Tasha Cobbs. Coupled with her  anointing is also her ability to skillfully serenade an audience and captivate their hearts through song. Her ability to go from traditional gospel and the sultry sounds of R&B, to contemporary Christian music is uncanning.

 At a young age of 14, Italya was appointed as choir director over the youth choir at Boyd Hill Baptist Church and served there for 17 years. She has had the experience honing her skills and nurturing her gift  as  while performing on a local basis, and even opening for ( and performing with) national artists such as Kenny Curry & Nu Spirit, Al Boyd, Shirley Caesar and the Together as One Mass choir.  She has also sang backup for numerous local worshippers as well. She currently serves as one of the Praise and Worship Leaders at Sanctuary of Life Outreach Ministry in Rock Hill, SC.  Italya has also recently been featured in the historical musical "No fear for freedom" playing the role of Inez Graham (Clarence Graham's mother).  Italya has been blessed with a wonderful family that includes her husband Elder Omard Potts and their 4 beautiful children: Zyair, Jalen, Jyra and Skylar. 

Italya is determined to not only inspire people with her music, but through the example of her life as well. "I strive to live the life I sing about" is her approach to her music ministry. Her theme scripture for her upcoming album  "Fearless" is 2 Timothy 1:7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
